This “cozy” and “newly remodeled” “newly updated” (wha?!) basement studio rents for $575, not including any utilities except water and trash.
I have no words.
And this in a city with an estimated per capita income below $22k. What’s the rental sitch like where you live? Please tell me that this is not normal.

There are no words is so accurate here. That’s outrageous. I lived in a county with a $25K+ per capita and rented a lovely light, second story one bedroom for $560. That place is a hole!
You know the situation in Paris, where this place would be a gem.
In certain, even gentrifying/gentrified parts of Berlin, you could swing a studio or even 1BR with a real oven for about this much.
