Two weeks ago, I said I was going to post a little something about Christmas presents. That clearly didn’t happen. Whoops. Things have been a little crazy in these parts.
Approximately half of my Christmas presents are still sitting in a box at my parents’ house, as various factors conspired against extra room in vehicles/me getting to bring my things home. I’ve more than made up for it with after Christmas shopping, which, as my mom reminded me last night, needs to stop. Her rationale was because my birthday is on the horizon. My rationale is because it’s getting way, way out of control and I’m still trying to save for travel to an exotic locale (hopefully Europe or Mexico or, at the very least, to visit a friend in California) and any of the above trips will make me a lot happier than more stuff. Plus, travel=more shopping anyway.
So, a few things that have found their way from under the tree to my home (and no, none of these seem to have actual places in my home yet, so are on my bedroom floor or the dining room table. Oy.)
The aforementioned crock pot, now on sale at target.com:
Other kitchen essentials included a steamer basket, new cutting board, various sizes of purple ceramic bakeware, a lovely pie dish, and a slew of used things from my dad’s fairly strange friend, who, despite being a lifelong bachelor and (I think) not much of a cook, owns a number of roasting pans. He’s decided to do some clearing out, and the sibs and I were the recipients of all sorts of kitchen stuff. Such as a sick plaid vintage Thermos, which makes me want to go all winter picnic. (also, I love that this post sparked a conversation about the same Sorels I’ve been eyeing, just in another color)
On the clothes front, my wardrobe now includes these kind of crazy but surprisingly versatile Danskos (bought seriously on sale since a store in the mall was closing. my mom’s like that):
Speaking of good deals, I also bought myself this slightly Cookie Monster-esque Patagonia coat in the after Christmas sales. 50% off, baby! (like mother, like daughter)
I also got some books I’m looking forward to reading:
If it wasn’t dark here all of the time, I would take some pictures of some of the other non-online things I received and that are giving me that gentle push through the end of January. So perhaps I’ll still be talking about Christmas presents in March. Time will tell.
So fess up – what’d you get? What did you buy yourself after Christmas? Are you feeling the same sense of want, want, want I am?
I wonder if it has to do with all of the blogs I read.
Possible. More on that phenomenon here.
