It’s been a long week, so I am looking very forward to a cozy weekend. Lots of things I want to do, both around the house and around town, but today I’ll get a coffee and wander a craft market, then come home and do some cleaning and tidying and organizing. I’m way overdue.
(It might even be time to finally take down the Halloween decorations.)
In a perfect world, I’ll also decorate for Christmas. In reality, all I know is that I’ll dig out some of my favorite Christmas songs – the ones I uncheck the rest of the year in iTunes so they don’t randomly come up on shuffle. Today we’re in a mellow mood.
I have to ask, do you like Christmas music? I feel like this is a big dividing conversation for some people – you love it and embrace the cheese or you revile it. I’m obviously in the former camp.
James Taylor, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Vince Guaraldi Trio, What Child is This

I love the VGTs work for Charlie Brown. Other than that, can’t say that I’m super into holiday music. Then again, I got really into one of the Sweptaways’ Xmas songs, the title of which I unfortunately can’t remember…
I walk a fine line with Christmas music. There’ s a lot that just grates on me. I have managed to find a few songs I love over the years though. My favorite is God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLoughlin. I’ve never been a fan of the carol itself, but I can’t stop listening to this version. It’s worth checking out if you haven’t heard it.
Actually, I asked for Christmas music suggestions last week on facebook and got a huge response from my friends, so I was thinking about opening the question to blog land this week too. I might just have to do that on Wednesday. And, now I’m going to stop brain dumping on your comments section. 😉
