Last week I talked a bit about wanting the skills you don’t have – one of mine was the ability to sketch past the second grade level. Apparently for at least one blogger out there, the missing skill is dancing.
I had to laugh at Dooce, aka Heather Armstrong, in her post entitled “So I know I can’t dance.” She writes,
If reincarnation is true, I want more than anything the ability to dance when I come back as another being. I don’t care if I’m a frog or a piranha or a rock inside a cave. LET ME BE ABLE TO SAMBA!
I’m hardly a top notch dancer, but it did bring back some memories of leaving the movie theater post-Save the Last Dance (and other cheesy dance flicks) and wanting nothing more than to bust a move. My high school self was so JEALOUS of places that had actual clubs – it seemed pretty removed from small town Montana. When I watched STLD a few months later in the comfort of my home, my white self did join in that final scene, got off the couch, and got to dancing. I am a sucker for a good dance movie.
And so I thought I’d share this, from the same dooce post:
Seemed like a pretty good way to kick off another week. And now I see that my Netflix queue needs some serious updating – there are plenty of dance movies I still haven’t seen!
Which one is your favorite?
